Jayne Haines | Chair

Jayne Haines is Senior Vice President of Talent, Learning & Organisation Development at GSK, partnering with leaders to build a talented, motivated and resilient workforce to tackle global health challenges and bring great medicines and products to patients and consumers.

Jayne first started to think about gender issues whilst still at University and took a year off as sabbatical women’s officer before joining the European Commission in the Equal Opportunities Commission as a summer intern. She joined the Post Office with a focus on equal opportunities and leadership in the public sector. Having now worked in HR for over 20 years she has had progressively more senior roles, including HR Director roles in the Czech Republic, Denmark, Sweden and in the UK.

She loves her work and believes that building people, team and organisational capabilities is critically important in the modern world beyond the corporate boundaries. To that end Jayne is a Board member of the UK Apprenticeship Delivery Board and in early 2018 also joined the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS) Council as an Employer Representative.

Jayne believes that sport and access to sport is critical for girls and women. She is passionate about the positive role that sport plays in everyone’s life. Seeing that her daughter did not have access to the same sporting opportunities as her two sons inspired Jayne to set up (and later sell) a franchise business called ‘Netball Nippers’. In turn this led her to become a trustee of Women in Sport in 2013, because she could see the inequality across sport and wanted to make a difference. Jayne was elected Chair of Women in Sport in July 2018, a role she describes as a huge responsibility and a privilege.
