Jayne Haines MBE is to step down as Chair and trustee of Women in Sport in March, after nine years with the charity. During that time Jayne has led the development of the Board, appointed CEO Stephanie Hilborne, and ensured a new five-year strategy is taking the mission forward. Jayne leaves to take up the new role of Chair of Berkshire Cricket Foundation, becoming the first female to be appointed to the position.

I am proud to have been part of such a great charity and to be leaving it in such a strong position.

Women in Sport is the longest standing voice for women in sport. Jayne joined the Board in 2013, assumed the Chair in 2018 and has been a particular champion for greater female representation in leadership roles across the sport sector. She was instrumental in the charity securing a statutory requirement for all Sports Governing Bodies to have a minimum of 30% women on their boards. This was a key milestone in the charity’s drive for more diverse and inclusive sporting workplaces. Jayne was awarded an MBE for her services to women’s sport in 2021 and leaves the charity in a strong position.

Jayne Haines MBE, outgoing Chair of Women in Sport said: “I am proud to have been part of such a great charity and to be leaving it in such a strong position.  Women in Sport is well respected as a thought-leader and influencer in the sports sector, it has a strong public profile and voice but doesn’t just shout from the sidelines. I am pleased to have given time to such a wise charity which not only calls out the problem but has a strong consultancy offer to help organisations achieve the change that is still needed.”

Stephanie Hilborne MBE, CEO at Women in Sport said “Women in Sport owes a debt of gratitude to Jayne Haines for the outstanding leadership and vision she has contributed to the charity.  Her work has ensured that the charity has a broad base of support, corporate partners and sporting collaborators to inspire the sporting world to take the bold steps still needed to end misogyny and gender inequality.  We will not stop until every girl feels free to enjoy sport and women can play, train and work in sport free from discrimination or abuse.  As we approach our 40th anniversary year Jayne is firmly in our list of history-makers.”

Jayne leaves at the end of March. The recruitment process for Women in Sport’s new Chair is now underway.
