Dr Anita White, co-founder of Women in Sport, interviewed on Times Radio

19th September 2023

Dr Anita White CBE, one of the four co-founders of Women in Sport speaks to Kait Borsay on Times Radio about her trailblazing career in sport.

From leading England Hockey to World Cup victory in 1975 as the women’s team captain (pictured leading the team out here), to co-founding our charity almost 40 years ago, she has had a huge impact both elite and grassroots women’s sport.

Speaking about setting up Women in Sport, Anita said: “I met some other women that were also very prominent in sport, who had also done very well and got very little recognition. As the group of us connected, we shared many of the same experiences and resolved to do something about it.”

Listen:

I look back at it now and think 'why did it take us so long?' I think probably initially, we just accepted things the way they were.
