Insight Officer – Email
Sport has always been a huge part of Emily’s life and continues to play an active role. From since she was young, she participated in all different types of sports such as Gymnastics, Hockey and Athletics. Even now, her love of sports hasn’t wavered as she currently plays Netball competitively for a local London team and enjoys running!
Emily’s passion for sport led her to develop a career within sport science as she’s always been interested in gender inequality and closing the gender gap in sport and sport research.
Before joining Women in Sport, she undertook a master’s degree in Applied Sport and Exercise Physiology and became a lecturer in Sport Science at St. Mary’s University where she specialised in teaching and researching the influence of the menstrual cycle on endurance athletes. Recently, she finished working with the GB Olympic Rowing team in both the men and women’s team in the build-up to European Championships and Rowing World cup.
Emily has joined the team as an Insight Officer and is responsible for supporting the Insight team with key projects, helping to deliver our insight – from undertaking interviews and helping to facilitate focus groups, through to liaising with research companies who are delivering insight on our behalf. She has always been an advocate for gender equality in sport and so when she spotted the role, she immediately jumped at the opportunity to be part of the team. She believes that women in sport are finally getting the recognition that they deserve and feels excited to be part of our charity’s mission when there is so much momentum in the right direction.
